English Language Proficiency Requirements

You must have completed the English language test within two (2) years of the application date.

The table below shows the English language test providers, including information on English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), and the minimum overall band scores you must achieve to meet the Student visa English language requirement. This will also be used as the English Language proficiency requirement for entry into this course by OCT, in addition to its ACSF Level LLND Test.

English Language test evidence exemption

You do not need to provide evidence of an English test score with your visa application if one of the following applies:

• You are a citizen and hold a passport from the UK*, USA, Canada, NZ, or Republic of Ireland.
• You are a Foreign Affairs or Defence-sponsored student or a Secondary Exchange student (AASES).
• You are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone ELICOS course, a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered postgraduate research course.
• You have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
• In the 2 years before applying for the student visa, you completed, in Australia and in English, either the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or a substantial component of a course leading to a qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework at Certificate IV or higher level while holding a student visa.

Note: You may be required to provide evidence of an English test score if you hold a British National Overseas (BNO) passport.

If you are exempt from providing an English test score, you will be required to provide evidence and may also need to complete an English Placement Test conducted by OCT.

Rolling Intake and Initial Stage Units

OCT operates on a rolling intake timetable. Although no units in this qualification have any pre-requisites, OCT has adopted a stage-based rolling intake where all students must complete the units in the initial stage listed below prior to merging with older students in ongoing classes. OCT runs these units on an ongoing basis depending on student enrolments and commencements. Students can commence their course in any of the following units and in any order. Once the students have completed the following units, they will be merged with older students. Each student will be provided with their individual training and assessment plan outlining their timetable.

• AURETR125 – Test, charge and replace batteries and jump-start vehicles

Assessment System

Units are assessed individually via a range of assessment methods, including:

• Written Assessment
• Verbal Questioning
• Practical Demonstrations observed directly by the assessor

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfers (CT)

The RTO offers all students the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Assessment Appeals

Students can make an appeal against any assessment decision by following the Complaints and Appeals Policy outlined in the Student Handbook and on our website.

All appeals and complaints will be dealt with according to the Complaints and Appeals Procedure.
